Is it okay to feel nostalgic?

At their first camp, and sometimes at subsequent camps, there is a chance that a participant will feel homesick, and that’s okay, it’s completely natural. It’s essential that, as families or responsible individuals, we have a conversation with our children about this before they arrive at summer camp. Although there is no single method, here are some tips that we as a team have found to work: Talking about feeling homesick and how to be okay Let them know that they can have a lot of fun while feeling homesick. We can explain that it is a feeling that won’t last forever and the pride they will feel after their time at camp for having risen to this challenge. Rehearse before you go out Organize outings to relatives’ or acquaintances’ houses in the days before. It’s a good idea to spend time away from home before summer camp starts and, above all, talk about it afterwards: how did you feel? Did you feel homesick? How did you handle that feeling? Comment on who they can talk to if they feel homesick. It’s best not to let that feeling linger throughout the day and wait until the lights go out at the end of the day. The sooner our team of group leaders know, the quicker they can make sure you have someone to talk to about your feelings. Sometimes a coping method is to keep you busy and engaged, so they can make sure you’re fully integrated into activities. For some children, talking to their family back home is all they need to get some positive encouragement; however, for other children, the situation can get worse. Although we will know the participants well by the end of their stay, no one knows them better than you. If your child is feeling homesick, trust our team to use our knowledge and experience. We will always seek to do the best for each and every one of them. Be strong as parents Hearing that our son or daughter is feeling down on the other end of the phone can be frustrating. We need you to trust the team, our instincts, and our experience. On a Sunday night, it’s not unusual to have a couple of homesick kids, and usually after a fun, activity-filled day on a Monday, home is a distant memory (sorry, families). The worst thing we can say to a child is, “I’ll come get you on Wednesday if you don’t handle it.” Try to take it day by day. And if you’re a little worried about your kids going to camp, don’t let them see it. We don’t want to create any doubts in their minds. Talk about how excited you are about this adventure they’re going to have, how you wish you had the opportunity to do so, etc. During their stay, they will have a wonderful time participating in activities, overcome obstacles, and return more independent than when they arrived.

5 Benefits of studying a university degree abroad

Because you think about a future you would like to achieve and you know that studies are the path, not the goal. Right? Whatever you are looking for, you can find it. Every country has a different system and this can help you find unimaginable alternatives to study at an international university. Study what you like the most, learn English and change the world. 5 Benefits of studying a university degree abroad: 1. Living in other places broadens your perspective. There’s nothing like going out and discovering that beyond what you already know, there are other ways of understanding life. Knowing and understanding other cultures makes you more flexible and tolerant. Setting challenges and achieving your goals makes you gain self-confidence. 2. Improve your employability. Spain has a youth unemployment rate of almost 30%. Studying at an international university in another language is a great way to stand out in the competitive job market. Your CV will shine in any selection process! In addition, if you wish, you can work part-time to pay for your stay and gain work experience and useful references for your professional future. 3. Build a network of contacts. One of the benefits of studying a university degree abroad is the number of people you will meet from all over the world. Friends of all kinds will allow you to create a network of contacts that will exponentially increase your future opportunities. 4. Enjoy what you like most. It’s not all about studying. Through student associations you can take part in events, activities, theatre, cooking, sporting events and much more. In addition, you can continue with your favourite hobby or sport in the clubs of each university. Studying a university degree abroad is not at odds with having fun. 5. Explore a new teaching methodology. The methodology at international universities is based on the idea that education should be tailored to the students and not the students to education. It has very practical approaches that introduce fewer class hours, more tutorials, more group work and more presentations, which leads to knowledge through documentation and debate. Proactivity, involvement and commitment are required, skills that will serve you throughout your career. 5 mistakes to avoid when choosing a university abroad

Every year the number of applications to enter a university abroad increases, but do you know everything you need to know to make the right choice? Studying abroad is an exciting experience full of benefits. At Plan Zero we want it to be unforgettable and to make the most of it, which is why we want to tell you 5 mistakes to avoid when choosing a university abroad based on our extensive experience. ⛔ Error 1. Missing the orientation days. Get involved and make the most of all the information resources available to you. Orientation days are an opportunity to obtain more information, resolve doubts and meet the teaching staff. Many universities offer online orientation days. Sign up for our newsletter and we will keep you informed. On the other hand, this is one of the experiences you can do during a Gap Year: take advantage of the opportunity to get to know the universities that interest you on the spot, participate in the orientation days and resolve any questions on the spot. ⛔ Mistake 2. Managing everything on your own Trust the professional team behind each university and, if you want, also Plan Zero. Universities have international student departments and will be able to answer any questions you may have. Ask them whenever you need to. At Plan Zero we have extensive experience helping students with their studies abroad, we can make your choice of studies and university, as well as the enrolment process and procedures, quick and safe. Did you know that we have a 100% enrollment rate? 🤓 One of the mistakes to avoid when choosing a university abroad is to focus on a single attractive option without evaluating your real possibilities. At Plan Zero we can help you find the best university for you, according to your needs and your profile. Maybe you don’t even know that the university of your dreams exists yet 😉 ⛔ Error 3. Not carrying out a good prior study of the universities Related to the previous point is this mistake to avoid when choosing a university abroad. It is important to find the perfect combination between a prestigious university and a realistic application. Make a short list of options. Never put all your hopes in one option! But don’t try all the possible universities either. Some of them charge fees to submit applications, and the cost of applying to too many can be high. 💡 Tip Plan Zero Select a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 universities and find out all the options and branches available: 3 or 4-year degrees, Sandwich Degrees (1 year of internship), Foundation Year, Year One, Top Up, etc. At Plan Zero we can help you make this selection. ⛔ Error 4. Not doing enough research on the university and the procedures From having the right visa to obtaining scholarships or funding, one of the most common mistakes to avoid when choosing a university abroad is forgetting the small, but essential, steps. Research and check everything about the chosen university because normally everything will be published. If you can’t find it, trust Plan Zero. We communicate with the Admissions departments of the universities. Sometimes not looking for all the information can lead to problems such as, for example, obtaining a degree that is not recognized within the regulatory framework of your country. Don’t let all your effort disappear because of the lack of a piece of paper. ⛔ Error 5. Underestimating the importance of some requirements Universities have quantitative requirements that are easy to check if you meet or not. For example, if they ask for an IELTS level of 6.5, you either have it or you don’t, it’s that simple. But many universities also ask for subjective requirements! A motivation letter (Personal Statement) or a portfolio are examples of this. A good motivation letter can make the difference in getting admitted to the university of your choice. And the same goes for your portfolio. At Plan Zero we attach great importance to the creation of a good Personal Statement and we can help you build your portfolio. 📚Want to know more? We have an academic guidance team eager to help you
