Long tradition of educational excellence
Ireland’s strong reputation for high-quality education is built on a long-standing commitment to excellence. Today, they have one of the best educational systems in the world and an internationally recognized reputation for academic quality.
In Ireland, 34 higher education institutions offer a wide range of over 5,000 programs leading to internationally recognized and quality assured qualifications.
Innovative and creative culture
The submarine, color photography, the modern tractor, the guided missile, the nickel–zinc battery, the portable defibrillator, the Gregg shorthand rapid writing system, the modern stethoscope and many other inventions have Irish roots.
According to the 2019 OECD Education report, young Irish people have the fourth highest level of education in the world. The 2020 Bloomberg Innovation Index ranked Ireland as the 16th most innovative country in the world.

Ireland is also home to five of Forbes’ top ten companies: Apple, Google, Alphabet, Amazon and Samsung.

What is the education system in Ireland like?
The higher education system in Ireland includes the university sector, institutes of technology and independent private colleges. Admission requirements for international students are determined individually by each institution and are generally based on performance on national exams and English language proficiency. The duration of a Degree can be 3 years (Ordinary Bachelor) or 4 years (Honours Bachelor).
Some of the most notable universities are Trinity College Dublin, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and University College Dublin.

7 public universities
They are financed by the State and generally operate autonomously. Each offers a range of Bachelor and Master programs across a wide range of general study areas.
Colleges of Education
They only provide specialist training for aspiring school teachers, either through a 3-year Bachelor of Education and/or an 18-month postgraduate diploma. Students wishing to teach at a post–primary level are normally required to complete an undergraduate degree in Primary Education followed by a Postgraduate Diploma.

They offer education and training in specialized areas such as Vocational Training, Art and Design, Medicine, Business Sciences, Rural Development, Theology, Music and Law.
