Volunteering in
Canada
Where will I volunteer?
The Wildlife Recovery Centre is the largest in Western Canada and is located in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia.
It is a center specialized in habitat conservation.
Animals living in Vancouver’s urban environment face many challenges, including busy roads, habitat loss, pollution, pet predation, poisoning, litter, and outright human cruelty.
The center provides a temporary home for a large number of animals, mostly birds, who are then released back into the wild once they’re rehabilitated. In addition to the hospital, they also organize awareness, education, and outreach campaigns.
What will I do during my volunteer work in Canada?
Volunteers typically work 4-5 days a week and have 2-3 days off, depending on the needs of the center.
During this time you will be able to:
- Assist with wildlife rescue and release
- Prepare meals for the animals and feed them
- Prepare educational materials
- Attend fundraising events
- Maintain records and assist with administrative tasks
- Clean and maintain cages and other general maintenance tasks
During your free time, you can enjoy Vancouver’s life and leisure activities.
